The sun has moved above the ecliptic and is right now shining into the former bedroom which serves as my computer, game-playing, music listening, financial record storage room. Even with another attack of the white death due late tonight, it’s time to put on Vivaldi and welcome the brief, muddy season of Spring here in the post-industrial midwest.
- Welcome to the 18,000 new residents of Waukesha County.
- In anticipation of April Fools Day, a reader sent me a complimentary e-mail and when I thanked him in reply, he wrote back that he had intended to send it to the Five Points Blog. There’s no fool like an old fool.
- Crime in the city. Another armed robbery (you don’t have to show a weapon to be an armed robber) on Summit Avenue and serious car bashing in Pebble Valley. Then there’s Tuesday 9:13 p.m. – A man with a gun was reported walking in the 900 block of North Grandview Boulevard. He had a shaved head, was wearing a long black coat and reportedly told a patron of a nearby bar that he “had a piece.” He also reportedly punched the window of a parked car in the area.
- The April election is important. You must vote. There’s the Frankenstein veto to reign in Diamond Jim’s spending, control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, county board and aldermanic races. Here’s a profile of county board candidates from District 11. There will be a candidate forum for county board candidates at UWW. No mention of who will attend.
- Wiggy tells you about the Supreme Court race.
- Not alderman, “alder rep” as one of signs for Lori Howe, candidate for Charles Betker’s aldermanic seat, reads. Ms. Howe moved to the district for the express purpose of running for the seat and she apparently finds “alderman” sexist.
That’s enough for me. I’m voting for Christopher Hernandez.- Another reason to hamstring Diamond Jim Doyle is that he doesn’t like you. I was not in favor of “disaster” funds for snow removal, we’re in Wisconsin for heavens’ sake, but how do you include Jefferson, Walworth, Washington and Milwaukee in a disaster declaration but not Waukesha there smack dab in the middle?
- Somewhere between an inch and a foot of snow is coming and frankly, we’re out of money. Let’s let it melt.
- NCAA starts today. Marquette will lose to Kentucky. UW will win today and be upset by Kansas State in the second round. The Final Four will be UCLA, Memphis, Kansas and North Carolina. Memphis will defeat Kansas for the national title.
- One month later I will not remember who won.
Oh, I almost forgot. Vivaldi:
