Here are some pictures of the Feast of Christ the King last Sunday here at Thomas Aquinas College in the temporary chapel. About a hundred faithful were in attendance, which is about twice what we were expecting (the Halloween dance was held late the night before, insuring that many people slept in late). The faithful joined in the chanting of the majestic “Christus Vincit,” which was very powerfully chanted by the schola.
We have been having a high Mass every Sunday and a low Mass every day. The Masses are well attended, but the student body is, I think, still catching on to the rite (which continued here uninterrupted until 1976).
It’s admittedly not easy to go from the Novus Ordo and its spirituality to the spirituality of the ancient Roman Rite, but students here are, I think, smart enough to realize with time the beauty and transcendent depth of the 1962 Missal. When that happens, I think the attendance at the Masses will pick up even more.
Thanks to John Boyer for the photographs.
