The Baylor Basketball team is off to a great start this year. After a heart-breaking 10-point loss in an exhibition game to Tarleton State at the beginning of the month, Scott Drew’s squad has a 4-0 record, capped off by defeating Wichita State, Notre Dame, and Winthrop to win the 2007 Paradise Jam tournament in the Virgin Islands.
Now they come home to host the 3-2 Centenary Gentlemen in the Ferrell Center in preparation for #9 Washington State, who travel to Waco at the end of the month.
With junior guard Curtis Jerrells putting up 16 points and 6 asists per game, there is no reason why Baylor should go into the Washington State game with a 5-0 record. While star senior and Australian national team member Aaron Bruce hasn’t produced much, the latest member of Baylor’s 1,000-point club has hit 7 of 14 from behind the arc and looks to be improving all-around in every game he’s played.
Even the freshmen are looking like a perfect fit with Drew’s lineup. LaceDarius Dunn, the Louisiana Player of the Year out of Monroe, is averaging 11 points and 5 rebounds per game in his first 4 games in the green and gold.
Look for Baylor to keep the undefeated streak alive as they host the Centenary Gentlemen tomorrow night at 7pm CST.
