It’s too bad he had that game, and then in the playoffs went back to form. The form that had Mr. Torre place him 8th in the lineup as the Yanks went down to defeat in Detroit last year.

However, on a day when the Red Sox proved it was men against boys, and a cancer survivor who one year ago yesterday was in chemo, started and won the series clinching game for the Sox, on a day when Varitek gave the ball to the team, on a day when except for Denver it was happy happy all over baseball world, comes A-Rod who can;t wait two or three days to try and rain on everyone’s parade, and prove (again) it’s really all about A-Rod to A-Rod.
What a fool!
A-Rod announced practically DURING the last game of the World Series he was opting out of his contract with the Yankees (and it’s $21 million subsidy being paid by the Texas Rangers). The Yankees made it clear all along if he did this, they would not compete to get him as a free agent. A Rod had turned down ALL Yankee requests for business meetings. Now this.
Since among the teams his agent Scott Boras has targeted as having enough $$ there are NONE who have made the playoffs for 12 straight years, we can assume that a consistent chance to play in and win the World Series is not the key issue for A Rod, and since the Yanks were crafting a close to $30 million/year contract for 5 years or so, we can assume, A Rod is the kind of guy who would really rather hit that solo 8th inning HR when behind or ahead 8-1, get his stats and get his check than grind out the achievement of meaning in the heat of real games.
In short, on a day when baseball had much to celebrate as John Lester won, and Mike Lowell achieved what could have been A-Rod’s if he had what Lowell demonstrated Rodriguez is missing…..Alex Rodriguez proved he was no Scott Brosius.

Pitch A-Rod low outside boyz, he’s a fool for it with that swing, and then feed him the hard inside fastball, he can’t catch up to it.
